48 hours outage of Solana Network: Solana failed?

Solana Network was offline for a long time again. The team failed to take action on time against the main issue.

Solana is the 8th big crypto project of this industry. This crypto blockchain network is known for its unique technology Proof-of-history consensus. In 2021, Solana grabbed huge attention in terms of use case, and also its native coin Sol grabbed a huge surge in terms of price. In the initial beta phase, Solana is showing a better impact over other crypto blockchain networks.

In 2021, Solana Network faced downtime for more than 15 hours and the whole game was based on the spamming bot transactions, which introduced a high traffic load in the network.

In January 2022, the Solana network faced a network outage for the second time, within one month. This latest outage was very bad because on one side Crypto market was facing a crash and on the other side, the network was fully down.

The official noticeable issue in the network speed took place on January 21, 2022, at about 00:00 UTC. And the team was able to identify the bug/issue in the network on Saturday at 17:55 UTC. That means around a total of 24 hours consumed by developers to figure out the main cause.

“The mainnet-beta cluster is experiencing some performance degradation, we are currently investigating the issue,” the team wrote.

The team noted that the main cause of this outage in the Solana network was the “excessive duplicate bot transactions” in the network.

On 23 January 16:19 UTC, Team successfully fixed the issue by releasing the update v1.8.14 to eliminate the issue.

Team also said that they will now work on the improvement of the network in the next 2-3 months.

“These forthcoming releases are aimed at improving the state of the network, with more improvements expected to roll out in the next 8-12 weeks. Many of these features are currently live on Testnet, where they are being rigorously tested,” the team added

Mark Jeffery, the author of HarperCollins, shared his stance on Solana and claimed that Solana is out of the blockchain technology winning the competition.

Another day, another 48 hour #Solana outage.

This is like the sixth time this has happened in 3 months.
